Additions to the FAQ

Here are a few new Frequently Asked Questions, all but the book review question “frequently asked” in the usual FAQ sense that none of them have been asked at all, but it’s a handy way of conveying blog policy. I will be adding them to the FAQ page pretty soon. In fact, I should provide a more prominent link to the FAQ from the front page, shouldn’t I? Call that question number one.

Will you review a book we’ve published?

I just might, if you send me a copy and it’s at all germane to the topics I discuss here, which shouldn’t be hard. My co-bloggers might well be interested in writing a review as well.

How do I reach you by email/postal mail/phone/Skype/chat?

The “Contact” link above wil give you an email address by which you can reach me. It may change from time to time, but the contact link will always contain the current address. Postal mail and phone contact and chat-type-client info are not available to the public. I am too 2003 to use Skype.

Can we send you an unsolicited press release about our product or business?

Why sure! But keep in mind that the result will be that I will never mention your company or product on this blog, ever. I hate unsolicited press releases about businesses. Hate them. And I get thousands of them a day at work. And this blog is supposed to be fun. So don’t do it.

What is your favorite reference to this blog in a comment thread over at Lindsay Beyerstein’s blog Majikthise?

Interesting question! I suppose it would have to be Gordo’s response to Lindsay’s pointer to my Tacitus Disapproval of last weekend, in which comment Gordo says:

What I found most amusing was that Clarke’s piece, entitled “Fuck your Civility,” is completely civil. He doesn’t rant at Trevino, or accuse him, Goldstein-style, of trying to stick his finger in a dog’s ass (I never understood that particular Goldsteinism).

He merely argues that Trevino and others on the right advocate terrible things, things like invasions and bombings and degradation of the planet. Things like keeping health care from the poor and forcing women to take unwanted pregnancies to term. Things like racism and anti-Muslim bigotry.

You can’t say Clarke is being uncivil just because he says that right wingers pushed for an unnecessary war in Iraq, or because he points out that the war has brought misery and death to Iraqis.

So it turns out that Clarke is such a nice guy, he winds up being civil even when he’s trying his darnedest to be nasty.

Thanks for the feedback, Gordo, and rest assured I’ll try harder next time.

How about “Where’s the goddamn blogroll?

That one’s easy. It shows up ten random blogs at a time on the front page, right sidebar, down a ways.

I would like to see you be well and truly uncivil some time, Chris--though I hope I wouldn’t be the one to rouse you to it.

heh—Well put, Lindsay.

Have you snaked a way into the BCT on Saturday night to see John Trudell as part of the Seva Benefit for Wavy Gravy’s 70th Birthday????? The music and performance lineup alone fortells one of the most diverse yet uplifting events in the Bay Area in years.  But that will have to come out in the blurbs and reviews, won’t it???

When will Michael Berube (sorry, don’t know how to do accents) resume writing?

to respond to Charles-- that comes after May 31st.  Yes, i miss him too.
