PINOLE — A wedge-shaped piece of land in Fernandez Park once seen as a skate park will become an intergenerational community garden, the Pinole City Council has decided.Recreation Manager Amy Wooldridge said the garden will teach young people to grow food. Volunteers from the nearby Pinole Senior Center will help out to share their botanical savvy with the young people.
“It’s going to be a challenge, but very much fun,” said Senior Center board member Sam Shannon.
