Bear Valley trail

Eight miles hiked today through oak and bay,, manzanita and madrone. We saw a Skilton’s skink, two Pacific ringnecked snakes, a couple-twelve turkey vultures, and about eight skillion butterflies. There were painted ladies, of course, but there were literally hundreds of others. I didn’t take a field guide. The ones I could identify offhand:
Leanira checkerspot
Lorquin’s admiral
chalcedona checkerspot
California sister
common buckeye
Acmon blue
California hairstreak
orange sulphur
western tailed-blue

That’s 162 miles hiked so far this year.
