I'm sorry, but the comment period for this entry has ended.

chris, chris, chris.  you forgot to post the good stuff.

FREE FOOD!  bring yummies to share!  we’ll have a cooler and bubble water and snacks and pasta salad.  chris is barbequing!  and pica is bringing fresh produce and armenian bakery stuff from the central valley!  tell us what you would like to bring!

HIKING, or walking, birdwatching, wandering, biking, talking, whatever.  this is a wonderful place by the bay!  lots-o-trails and spots.  if we are lucky, ron will share her bird knowledge, but we may have to bribe her.

FRIENDS!  ron, embee, bright, pica, the bone, fred levitan, chris, me, and maybe lucy are planning to be there, judging by responses.  i understand that dogs are welcome on leash.  kiddies welcome, no leash.

WIND AND BAY and lands reclaimed!  mom says, dress in layers.  bring your camera for the vistas and the smaller stuff.

Oooh.  I noticed this before I went haring off on my big ol’ trip, but I didn’t get a chance to respond.  Breviloquence and I might be able to come, but that weekend seems to be piling up dangerously with things to do, so I can’t guarantee anything.

Hope hope hope hope hope hope

OK, that should fix it. See you there, Mags!

It looks like I won’t be able to make it on the 20th.  BUT, a trip to SF over the Vet’s Day weekend is appearing more and more likely should you want to grab a coffee or a meal at some point then.

That would be great, C. Let’s do that.

So many things are piling up to do that weekend that it’s worth a blog entry in itself, but this one wins.

Kathy, I looked for Armenian stuff at the Davis Farmers’ Market on Saturday, didn’t see any, but I’ll head over there on 20th again. I will certainly bring produce, though....

I can’t be there.

Wanna know why? Wanna know why?

Okay, here’s why! (This is a thread hijack! Fly us all to Cuba, where we’ll have universal health coverage! Right NOW, gringo!)

I’ve tuned the extra bedroom in my apartment so it’ll be suitable for a boy, well, mostly, and that very weekend I’ll be finessing the finals.

Yes! Yes! Within six months I might actually be a dad!

Shortest pregnancy on record, and I might be giving birth—as a man, wonder again—to a boy* sprung fully-formed as a six- to eight-year-old!

Or even siblings!

Yes! Because I’ll be certified as a two-bed fost/adopt site in the Arizona roster, and there’s no way I could split up a family if I can avoid it.

I know, it’s going to be hard for the kid(s) in question—but I think I’m ready. I think I am. I think I’ll have a son soon, and damn, I love that idea. This isn’t a chortle at the destruction of a family. It’s a celebration of a forming of a new one, bonded in love and care.

Oh hell, there’s just so much to talk about.

So I’m going to be busy for now, busy for a while, and busy, I really, actually, truly hope, for a hell of a long time to come.

But maybe, next year, my son (!!) and I (!!!!) can be at the gathering. Yes?

Exuberant! Exuberant! Yes!

Kill the fatted calf, for this is my beloved son returned to my bosom, and we shall make him welcome! He shall be a prince, and his days shall be filled with joy and contentment!

As I said elsewhere, whee!

* Do you know how weird it is to be in love with an idea?

WHEE!

Warren, that’s fantastic news. Congratulations!

Also, remember to come read your comment here when the kid inevitably gets on your last nerve.

No one ever has a party when I’m in the Bay Area. ;(

Hi Chris, Last night as I was leaving for work my husband was burning a CD he had re’d from his brother. He handed me a copy and told me to listen to it. Can’t do that at work so decided to do a web search to see if I could find the lyrics. Which is where you come in. You posted to a site mentioning that you had lost, and wish you still had, your copy somewhere or another. “1001 Ways To Beat The Draft” by Tuli Kupferberg. You may have meant the book, but we have the CD. Would you like a copy? E-mail my husband, Rick, at and leave an address. Don’t “reply” to this message as it’s a work site.  Cheers, Sue Halverson

Chris, About Tuli Kupferberg. My husband didn’t have 1001 Ways to Beat the Draft. It’s a Tulu K CD called No Deposit No Return. Sorry for wrong info.  Sue
