It’s been a little while since I sent y’all off to read some of the other wonderful blogs I read on a regular basis, so here’s a batch of them that — though some are well-established — are new on my radar within the last couple months. Some of them belong to people who’ve commented here. In no particular order:
Fact-esque, A Reality-Based Blog, by eRobin, whose writing I am truly beginning to cherish. Simply put, I have found no better, more concise political blog out there. Example of concision. Example of less concise, but still economical and devastatingly apropos posting.
Next up on this randomly ordered list is I Blame The Patriarchy, written by “Gentleman farmer and spinster aunt Twisty Faster” from Austin, Tejas. There is no one funnier on the planet. Were it not for the fact that I am married and resolutely child-free, and that Twisty is also resolutely childfree and has eloquently criticized the whole pair-bonding, child-rearing gemeinschaft as a Tool Of The Man To Keep The Sistahs Down, I would so bear her children. Aaaight, maybe not. But I’d buy her dinner and wash her truck.
White people need to go read Sydney’s recent post “ I’ve Had Enough! aka Sometimes, I fucking can’t STAND white people!”, and everyone else probably ought to as well. (If the title makes you at all defensive, wanting to explain in great detail that you’re not one of the bad guys, do yourself a favor and just go read and consider and don’t reply for a while. I promise you’ll learn something.) Sydney is one of the cream of the crop of Michigan bloggers, and got her hackles up at me in public when she thought I was dissing Ann Arbor. Despite the fact that I’ve liked Ann Arbor longer than she’s been alive.
Fuck, I’m old.
Oh, don’t miss the rest of Sydney’s blog. She’s fun.
At the Taming of the Bandaid, blogger thingfish23 documents his work to restore a small patch of Collier County, Florida to something approaching non-parking-lot status. His writing is clear and evocative, which takes some time to notice because he posts some of the best damn macro photos of local insects I’ve ever seen.
I can also drop a broad hint that an excellent blog — due for launch sometime soon, in weeks if not days — will be announced here among other places. It’s one I’ve been wheedling this blogger (and long-time CRN commenter) to start for some time. Real Soon Now. I can hardly wait.
