Do you think we should thank these Republicans?  Are you going to?

Coleman?  Really?  Maybe I’ll have to consider a nickname upgrade for Norm, from “Buttmunch” to “Pusbucket”.  Disappointing that the Hawaii contingent isn’t more sensitive to environmental degradation, considering how much they have to live with it.  Hope seeing their gas prices drop $0.05/gallon is worth it to them.

This ticks me off. I gave money (not a lot, maybe like 50 bucks) to Mary Landrieu back when Dems were pleading for donations to her runoff campaign in 2002. I don’t think this is the first time she’s failed to fall in line, either. Grrr.

My pal Dave Brower used to rail on all us younger enviros for not following through and thanking politicians when they did something right. I don’t see why membership in the GOP should disqualify them.

Kathy: welcome aboard! nice blog: I’ll have to look more closely. And yeah, unfortunately I think Landrieu has been pretty much bought and paid for by Big Oil, which owns Louisiana.

This has been a symbolic sticking point for many years.  So, now what happens when the price of fuel doesnt actually fall, and the imports of oil still continue to rise?  The massive inefficiency of transportation in the US is astounding by any rational measure.  In my neighborhood the 10mpg truck is the common mode of movement, and $2 gas has made little difference in the number of them running around.  When people will fire up one of these things instead of walking half a mile, we are a long way from changing our wasteful ways. The ANWR drilling will put off the day of reckoning a few more years, but that day will still come. Then maybe they will they be willing to talk about actually reducing use of fossil fuels.  I regret that this crisis is one more problem being pushed onto my children by Shrubco.

Yeah, Landrieu has been a disappointment, for me personally since I’m from LA and have some connections with her. Louisianians should know more than anyone what oil and gas can do to your environment.
