But hell, seeing as I went to all the trouble to put my résumé up on this site, I might as well let people know.
Least fascinating blog post ever

You were a radio talk show host for two years? Kinda like Michael Savage or Rush Limbaugh? Now see, that’s fascinating right there.

Except for the “getting a paycheck” part, and the “fomenting hate against the least fortunate to buttress the power structure” part, yes. Just like them.

How about the “demanding that busboys take care of his dog” part?
If we really strain ourselves, we might be able to find a few more differences.

Wrote updates for two Sierra Nevada trail guides
Not the Starr’s guide though, which explains why so many of the old cool “duck” trails are no longer even remotely apparent (unless one knows them well). There’s another book for you down the future crossroads of this life.

I didn’t know that you did trail research for Sierras North and South. (I assume these are the guidebooks to which you are referring.) Another connection that we have in common. My good friends Melanie and her former beau Jason (Tom Winnett’s son) did trail research for the third edition (I’m guessing you worked on the 4th - and I think Jason still does work for his dad), and Melanie and her friends are on the cover of the third edition of Sierra South. I’m also guessing you that you may had the privilege (?) of acquainting noted crackpot/gadfly/trail guide author Jeffrey Schaffer in your dealings with Wilderness Press? Just curious.

Fred: nope! My contribution to the field was far smaller: I did some fieldwork for the Meeks Bay to Lake Alpine sections of the Tahoe-Yosemite Trail book, and the Red’s Meadow to Happy Isles section of the John Muir Trail book.
I worked directly with Tom during my brief tenure as a freelancer with Wilderness Press, and didn’t get to know anyone else.

I notice that you’ve purged your file of all mention of your involvement with the WAAGNFN Party, as well as your eventual censure by the Party in the glorious Chris Clarke Show Trial of aught six. I’ll be alerting Michelle Malkin.

Well damn. PZ’s avatar works.
If mine doesn’t start working soon, I can only presume teh Clarke is playing favorites - and thus would begin a whole new list of charges of Crimes Against the Party.
Willfully impeding the avatar of the Minister of Justice. The impertinence is simply staggering.

miguel-
yeah, I saw my avatar today too! But now it’s gone, and yet somehow PZ’s is still there. Very fishy, which is appropriate because PZ’s avatar makes me think “fish head” everytime I see it. (Not an insult).
Yes, my avatar is fuzzy. It’s less funny when it’s a smaller size. I just really wanted that cartoon character when she’s smiling. Most of her images she’s got the scowl on. I’m going to write to the creator of the cartoon (Non Sequitur) one of these days and ask if he’ll send me a clear pic of “happy” Danae. Think he’ll do it if I’m not using it for commercial purposes?

Thanks, Chris!
It’s a little on the goofy side, but hey, it’s still Danae, so that’s great! Where’d you find her?

Google “danae” and “sequitur”, and then click image.
Alternately, go to image.google.com and do the above search.

Oh yeah. I do remember seeing that one on Google searches before. I did change it to be my new avatar and posted a new comment on the White Rose thread. But the new avatar did not show up. Maybe it takes a while. And maybe I should just be happy I finally have an avatar that shows up at all!
Fish head!

More Gravitar wierdness:
earlier today, my new Danae avitar appeared. And now it’s changed back again to the previous Danae avatar.
Actually, it’d be kind of cool if you could have avatars that rotate - if you had some kind of control over it, that is.
