Having reconnoitered the rendezvous venue tout suite,

I’ve just rid my bike out to the CRN meetup site, and can vouch that:

1) the site is not a mudhole
2) there are abundant grills and tables and running water and shade and sun
3) there be goats on the way to the site from the parking lot, so don’t touch, or piss on, the electric fence but do say hello
4) the forecast for Saturday of “mostly sunny” (upgraded over the last three days from “rain” to “possible light rain” to “partly cloudy") feels correct.

The facts and figures are here, but the short version: October 20, two days from now! Point Pinole Park, 11:00ish, everyone welcome.

more or less accurate guest list so far [updated]:
Probables:
Ron (on the occasion of her I think 34th birthday), Joe, Becky, yours truly, embee, jym, bright, pica, numenius, soitnly, kathy a and possible family members with diverse numbers of feet, siriosa, magniloquence, breviloquence, fred levitan

Possibles:
magniloquence, breviloquence, fred levitan, miguel alondra, lucy kemnitzer, jeanie sepin

Incomplete list of those we will probably drunk-dial from the nearby payphone:
spyder, Theriomorph, Roxanne, ilyka, Rana, the_bone

Feel free, if you have not done so yet, to add your name to any of the above three lists. But if you don’t do so, don’t let that keep you from showing up.

oh, and an afterthought: I’ll have a camera and will document the proceedings, but am happy to respect people’s wishes not to be photographed or flickered or both. Just lemme know.

I'm sorry, but the comment period for this entry has ended.

chris, you always forget the important stuff:
FREE FOOD!  bring some to share!

Ooo, drunk dial me!

I won’t be home, but you could all talk to Gilly via the machine, and I can listen later.

Wish I could be there, and wishing everyone good food, good company, many laughs, and abundant joy.

I really wish I could make it, Chris, but that’s unfortunately a wee bit of a drive from Dallas.  Especially because I’m working tomorrow.  I’m sorry to miss such a great opportunity!

Another time. . .I promise.

We will accept your weak excuse this time, jason, but next time you’re in charge of picking up New Mexico chiles on your way here.

and yes, kathy is right! my male privilege rears its head again. There will at least be some chicken and bubble water and snacks and pasta salad and fresh produce and other stuff. Bring what you’d like to share, or don’t, but come anyway.

Sniff. Wish I could be there; feel I ought to be. However Pica will represent me and I trust her, except don’t be put off by that funny accent :)

I believe that’s the first time I’ve seen someone use the phrase “put off” to mean “infatuated with.”

At this point, I’m planning on attending, assuming weather is cooperative in getting me from Quincy down the Canyon to funky O-town and thence to the Bay.  (Not planning on floating the Feather River, but simply following it from headwaters, more or less, to debouchement.) Will bring treats, more or less elaborate, as things play out.

looking forward to it!

Cool!  I like chiles.  Is it okay if I barter mustard and farm animals for the real deal, or do I have to do all the work myself?  I’m a stickler for details.

You can upgrade us from the “possibly” pile to the “probably” pile.. barring any of those nasty dust-storms that keep taking out big-rigs down here.

*shudders*

Shoot tiddy shoot.

I have to go house-hunting on Sat., cause the Bad Moms (who I need for house-hunting suupport) are all brunching on Sunday. So no me.  I’d send Jenny the Wonder Retriever in my stead, but she can’t drive.  Well, maybe she can drive but she navigates poorly.

Notice my shade and lift a glass of bubble water, eh?

I would really love to attend but it’s a bit of a drive from Minnesota, too.  Anyone drunk-dialing me should think of the children.  And the dogs.  And the cats (they’re easily offended).

Waaaaaaah!

(Why am I so far away?)

Beth, happy to represent you in any way you please. Accent? What accent?

You’re welcome to drunk-dial me. If I’d thought of it in time, I would’ve sent you all some cookies or toffee in my place. Have fun!

For once I wish I had a phone. Sounds like a good time. Don’t leave the coleslaw out in the sun.

Drunk dialing is welcome.  Have fun, kids!

Waving hello ()()()()()())()()

it was a lot of fun!  the weather was perfect.  great company.  there was only enough food to last a few days, though.

NO ONE DRUNK-DIALED ME.

I hate you all.
