No longer cool

Just found out through PZ that Lauren at Feministe says the Random 10 meme is no longer cool, because some prominent blogger or other used the idea without crediting the source.

Since it’s no longer cool, it’s safe for me to join in.

The idea: open your iPod or iTunes or other, inferior mp3 player and set it to random play, then list the first ten songs that appear. Here’s mine:

The Ocean (Dar Williams)
Extraordinary (Liz Phair)
San Juan Wayno (Calendar Music In The Central Andes)
Piri Wango Iya (Geoffrey Oryema)
Ergue-te Ao Sol (Madredeus)
Nil Na La Solas (Solas)
Hamdouchi (Majid Bekkas)
Does Your Heart Beat For Me (Patsy Cline)
Shaggy Dad (Lightnin’ Hopkins)
Anna (Kaouding Cissoko)

Hmmm. Only one that’s at all embarrassing.

I'm sorry, but the comment period for this entry has ended.

That’s cool. What’s an mp3 player?

Ok, I’ll play

Construction — Voodoo Glow Skulls (I have no idea what this is)

Road to Glory — Eleanor Shanley

Hot You’re Cool — General Public

Truck Drivin’ Man — Uncle Tupelo

Kill For Peace — Fugs

Time After Time — Cyndi Lauper (not that embarrassing — it’s one of the few of hers that I like)

Booty — Babe The Blue Ox (I have no idea what this is)

She’s Got Her Ticket — Tracy Chapman

Does Your Chewing Gum Lose It’s Flavour — Spike Milligan?

It’s Growing — Temptations

What — Patsy Kline? ...and you do have Madredeus, but that’s not from my CD — I have Antologia.

I have nothing written after 1856.
