Salad

The drizzle is light enough for me to loiter in the garden. Fist-sized mushrooms heave up hands full of compost as they emerge from the garden beds. I pick the last of the chiles, the anchos and the Hungarian blacks. The winter solstice is this weekend, and we enter the other garden season. Arugula, Empress of India nasturtium, mustard greens and English sorrel threaten to engulf the beds. I graze on their moistened leaves.

Okay, can we come to YOUR house?? This is just too much. (It was, um, difficult to be a vegetarian in Spain.)
