Some of my neighbors at work

The Peregrine Nest Cam shows four peregrine falcon chicks on a nest in the Financial District in San Francisco, with occasional cameos by Mom. The broadband version rereshes every second, so you really get an idea of the chicks’ activity level. Cool nature eye candy.

This cam is a project of the Santa Cruz Predatory Bird Research Group and Pacific Gas and Electric, whose building the nest is on.

I'm sorry, but the comment period for this entry has ended.

What timing- I clicked on the link, and there was the Mom feeding the chicks. Stunning visuals. I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. Thank you for reminding us to check out the Nest Cam. Beautiful.

No eyasses yet, but they should show up in about a week.

Clarke, you bastard.  I went to the high bandwith connection, hoping to see something astounding.  Nothing.  Then I tried the low bandwith connection, which led to an eigth inch sliver of an image.  Worse than nothing.

I can picture it now.  There you are, smug in your obvious technological superiority, pondering and pondering how you can stick it to those backwoods Montanans relegated, now and probably forever, to the constraints of dial-up internet service.

And like the Grinch, you had a wonderful, awful idea.  Why not link to a webcam that tantalizes those backcountry bumpkins with the promise of something truly amazing, but then leaves them sitting there at there computer screens with nary a lump of coal?

Bastard.

My only retort is that at least we’re no longer on a party line.
