Splash Mob?

A quick question for alla youse CRN readers. I’ve been idly toying over the last weeks with the notion of having CRN readers and lurkers and commenters and trolls and co-bloggers and anyone else in easy striking distance of the Bay Area get together for a walk, or a picnic, or something. A walk down Pinole Creek, or a hike in Briones, or sandwiches at Point Pinole or something.

Would anyone be interested in doing so in, say, October?

Chris, I’ve been reading this blog for quite some time and have been impressed at both your writing and the basic intelligence and kindness of your commenters. It’s one of the reasons I’m trying to come out of the woodwork a bit and participate.

You manage to fit in far more hikes than I ever can given my schedule and any additional reason to get out, climb hills, and meet interesting folks gets a big thumb’s up from me.

sounds great! really hope I can make it --will keep an eye out here for developments…

I promise not to bring the guitar.

I lived in the Bay Area back around ‘90-92.  I’m in Philly now, so can’t do it.  I’m one of the semi-lurkers who would so be there if I could.  Just sayin’.  Whatever happens, count me in in spirit.

I’m in, schedule permitting.

i’d love to. plenty of advance notice facilitates ease of scheduling.

Oy, I wish, that would be lovely. But the walk there from Vermont is, regretfully, stymieing. Wishing all who can a glorious day.

Unfortunately, I’m not in the Bay Area, so I would not likely be able to make it. But next time you’re in the Mojave, if you happen to stop in Vegas, and you’d like a lurker to buy you a beer, or take you for a hike at Red Rock Canyon, shoot me an email. :)

Maybe we should do a southwest caucus: I’m gonna be in the Cima area again the last weekend of October.

I’d love to.  Can I request a route thats friendly to small children so i can bring my 6 yr old?

I’ll be in California for part of October, but not likely to get that far south.  However, I’ll watch for developments and see what happens.  Who knows.. maybe I’ll get blown off course.  My motto:  Leave room for the unexpected.

Something less athletic than a hike would be good. (Yes I am that creaky just now.) That does not eliminate walking at Naturalist’s Pace rather than Sierra Club pace.

Hardest thing for us will be scheduling. Got proposed dates?

sure.  and i concur with ron; something flatter and slower would be good.  shall we make it potluck?  sign me up for pasta salad and bubbly water.

Dammit!

You kids have fun. I’ll just wander around talking to myself. As usual.

Wow, cool. not sure if it’s possible, but will try.
What would you call a get together of crner’s?
creakers?

=v= Me! Me!

Numenius and I are around most of October, would love to meet up if we can.

I just got back from a day of birding in Point Reyes, went through Point Reyes Station for the obligatory stop at the Bovine Bakery (sans Numenius who’s in Victoria for an open source geospatial conference whatever that means) and waved at the tiny radio station where we did the placeblogging gig so many many moons ago… any word, ever, from Lisa of Field Notes??

DANG!

Why am I on the other side of the continent?

*pouts*
