Thanks to more than 50 generous donations, most of them offered within 24 hours of our request, feminist-ur-blogger Lauren can afford to go to the BlogHer conference in San Jose next month!

Among the lot of you, you donated $1,075! That’s enough to cover the plane ticket (round trip, unfortunately for we her fans in the Bay Area), the all-important pay she’ll lose by travelling on two workdays, a cocktail or two to make the two-hour layovers at DFW pass more quickly, and a Toblerone. There should also be enough left over for that all-important conference rate hotel room, and Elisa Camahort of BlogHer has generously stepped up to offer to cover any shortfall there. Elisa also smoothed over a couple of logistical wrinkles for us. Thanks, Elisa! You’re a mensch.

Lauren will also be staying chez Zeke for a couple nights. We may or may not liveblog the festivities. We will, however, be putting the espresso machine to the test.

Aside from Kathy McCarty, whose notification I just received, everyone who donated and gave Amazon their name will have heard from me. If you haven’t heard from me and didn’t intend your donation to be anonymous, let me know who you are: here or by email (see button at top of page.) Special thanks due to those who linked to this bleg, letting Lauren’s fans know of the opportunity to give something back:  Lauren’s fellow Feministe-as Jill and Zuzu, Roxanne, Bling Fatih, the Professor and MaryAnn Auguste. You guys are great friends. And of course Amanda, without whose exhortations I might not have taken this wild-ass idea and run with it, sent a boatload of traffic this way and pulled a few behind-the-scenes strings as well. Thanks as always, Ms. Mouse.

And once Lauren’s jaw is up off the floor, she’ll be getting in touch with you all as well. I’m pretty sure this made her week. Thanks again. Y’all done good.

(Bling Fatih added to list of linkers. Thanks, Bling.)

Special guest update: Michael Bérubé comes in with a “Lauren’s got the bare minimum to get there, now let’s pay for the airplane headset and hotel minibar” ask, and Lauren’s fans are still responding. Thanks Michael, and thanks fans.
