What the kids are getting from me this Xmas

My pal Diane of penis evolution studies fame has released is releasing a (more or less non-penis-related) paleontology card game called Bone Wars.

Make your little jokes here.

As those who’ve kept up with their 19th Century North American scientific history will have guessed, Bone Wars is based in part on the feud between paleontologists Edward Drinker Cope and Othniel Marsh, who sunk to the level of dirty tricks in their desire to best the other’s finds of those great big bones in the territories.

From Zygote Games’ description:

BONE WARS, players take the role of paleontologists during the great “Dinosaur Rush” of the late 19th Century.

Out in the field, fossil hunters must survive natural disasters and attempts by other players to steal and destroy dinosaur bones.

Back at the museum, the conflict continues when the scientists carry their battle to the newspapers and scientific journals as they race to achieve scientific immortality!

Looks like fun. It’s aimed at children 10 and up, so people like me might find it a little challenging at first. But I’m sure I can find somebody to help me with it.

I'm sorry, but the comment period for this entry has ended.

Don’t even think about dragging me into these so-called “bone wars;” I’m a pacifist.

"The Game of Ruthless Paleontology"…that does sound like fun. And Zygote Games is a great name for a company!

We’re actually releasing it on September 1, 2005.
