I see an oddball organism like that and I go all LOLcats: UR DOIN IT RONG. That cactus looks insane.

Thank you!  The tallest, most ridiculous (I don’t call it that to its face) cactus in my collection now has a name!  Rescued from the free area next to the Dumpster when I lived in an apartment in Redding, it’s grown about two feet, and has three new shoots straining skywards.  Never flowered, though - I’m hoping someday it will - those blooms are bizarre too!
