... on the Red Cross. It feels like such a small amount. I’ll see if I can squeeze a little more out of the budget.
Go thou and do likewise. It doesn’t have to be a hundred. Five bucks is a hot meal for someone. Give what you can.

It bothers me a bit-and perhaps I’m strange for this-that they forced me to choose to give to only one of the Katrina fund, a national disaster fund, my local chapter, or an international fund. There was no option for general fund or “send it wherever it’s the most needed.” I suspect that’s fallout from the ‘scandal’ after 9/11, when people were upset that the money they’d given in the wake of the terrorist attacks went into the general fund and got used for other things. I never saw the point of being upset by that-is my money being useful somewhere in the world? is only relevant question to my mind.
I sent my check via the Senior Center, for a decent amount, although I feel like giving them all of the money I have been saving for a home. At this point, many of the survivors would love to have the crummy trailer I live in.
I did likewise yesterday. As you say, it seemed like such a small amount, so inadequate. Multiply it as an average by 100 million potential donors and you’ve got 10 or 15 billion dollars right there.
The head of the RED CROSS, is anjd has recieved a yearly income, that is soooo exhorbant and unjustified, that it should be illegal, we are talkin very many millions, and im sure hes gonna get a big raise now. Its happening in all charities in the USA and our PREZ allows it, HUH,wonderwhy? so when you donate to the cause , they are seein their own pockets widen , i wish the greed wasnt so bad in our country, but it is RAMPANT.
