Official Played Down Emissions’ Links to Global Warming — New York Times
“A White House official who once led the oil industry’s fight against limits on greenhouse gases has repeatedly edited government climate reports in ways that play down links between such emissions and global warming, according to internal documents… Before going to the White House in 2001, he was the “climate team leader” and a lobbyist at the American Petroleum Institute, the largest trade group representing the interests of the oil industry. A lawyer with a bachelor’s degree in economics, he has no scientific training.”

those of us who try to maintain a connection to reality are of course dejected and disappointed, but not surprised, at yet another admission of the administration tinkering with and censoring governmental scientific reports. the big question is how many of these half-truths and outright lies will the public swallow before gagging.

totally OT—your comments over at telford about proofreading gave us at least 5 minutes of hearty laughter.

Yep — as you’ll see at my site, I was pretty bent out of shape by this too.

    pirate,

    i don’t know if it’s a question of:

When are the public going finally mass gag?

    It’s more of:

How do we explain to the public why they should be mass gagging?

I think the public is starting to reject Bush a little bit but there needs to be a reason given for them to finally, and utterly, reject him.

I think it’s going to be a non-partisan event that does it.  What that event is, I don’t know, but the Downing Street Memo is a good start.

There have been plenty of chances for the public to reject this guy.  He is a proven, repeated, liar.  No rational person would extend him any credit in the truth department.  By now, if the White House says it’s sunny outside, bring a raincoat.

He’s not fiscally conservative.  He doesn’t tell the truth.  He wants government to intrude into the most personal aspects of our lives.  He wants to censor speech.  What kind of conservative is that?  None.  He’s a moralist instead.  But a lying one.

    I am, once again, disgusted.

But, I have a question — if the boy WAS impeached, who, then, would be president?

    AaaaEEeeeeee!

I thought it was “If Cheney quits, Bush becomes Vice President.”
