Your Bush vote

By on 2005 09 07 at 7:48:54 pm

The Bums alert us to FEMAs barring of news photographers from NOLA:

From the “Where Have We Heard This Before” Department: The Federal Emergency Management Agency does not want the news media taking photographs of the dead in New Orleans. According to a Reuters report, FEMA has rejected journalists’ requests to join rescue boats searching for bodies. “We have requested that no photographs of the deceased be made by the media,” a FEMA spokeswoman said in an email message to Reuters.

How can you blame them? FEMA, now a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Republican National Committee, can’t afford to have potential 2006 GOP voters see what they purchased with their votes in 2004. Unseemly.

Too bad for them. This is what your Bush vote brought us, you security moms, you NASCAR dads. Here are what your “traditional values,” your “defense of marriage,” your mistrust of liberal elites have visited upon us.

Here is your “compassionate conservatism.”

KTVU’s news just showed video of an elderly woman being forcibly removed from her home by CHP officers.  Apparently humiliating people who are still alive is okay.

Yes, and it is ever so compassionate to take photos of some living person’s dead relative.

But, then again, it may be that the authorities have more important tasks than looking after news photographers.

There is no government act so meretricious that an internet troll won’t bend over backwards to defend it.

I would feel better if I didn’t think that this administration is just trying to pull a cover-up right in front of our eyes. I swear after all if this is over, I expect to find mass graves a la Saddam Hussein. If you hide your victims they don’t exist.

I don’t want pictures of the dead to satisfy some ghoulish interest, I want evidence. EVIDENCE.

This is a crime scene. We’ve got the fingerprints, we need the bodies.

i’m going to reveal my tacky roots here — i will read about anything that catches my eye.  i don’t actually watch TV much, but how can you not know of oprah?  so, here’s a story that made me laugh and smile, because oprah is apparently kicking W’s butt, in both the “getting dirty on the ground” department, AND the PR department:

Uh-oh, Chris, looks like you got a “Operation: One Dead Person Is a Tragedy, Tens of Thousands of Dead New Orleanians is a Statistic” proponent at the 6:28 time-stamp. Which color ribbon is that, again?

I get “access denied” messages when I click on the “This” and the first “Here” links.

Good for you. I put up a picture of wrapped bodies at the convention center before they get taken down from CNN. Now the bloggers are the ones who have to preserve the record.

Is anyone collecting the photos at one site?  I hope someone sets up a clearing house sort of thing.
