Save The Date: Coyote Crossing Meetup October 14-16

Okay, I’ve been talking about doing this for some time but it’s never quite come together. I’m always talking to you about the desert, but I’m never really sharing the desert with you.

It’s time to fix that.

So mark your calendars, Coyote Crossing readers, Los Angeles and Bay Area friends, ambitious friends from further afield with time on their hands and travel fund, and my fellow desert rats: we’ll be getting together the weekend of October 15 somewhere in the vicinity of Joshua Tree National Park. There will be picnicking, there will be sharing of stories, there may well be cool desert science talks (if I can entice my cool desert science friends to attend and if they feel like talking), and there will be the opportunity to stay out in the desert late at night and watch the Autumn stars. Though if you don’t feel like camping, there are lots of places nearby in which you can rent a room — or even just drive out from LA for part of a day.

More details as they develop. Given my finances, there will almost certainly be a potlucky aspect to the picknicking — but I can take charge of the morning coffee at least.

You may ask further questions, make tentative RSVPs, and offer half-hearted excuses for your possible non-attendance in comments.

Tentative yes… I have “mom camp” some time in early October, but if it doesn’t conflict I’m all over it. Desert time good. Camping good. If T. is on a business trip I’ll have to drag Linus with me, but I’m assuming that’s totally fine.
