Urgent petition: Tell Ken Salazar to stop Ivanpah Construction

By on 2011 04 11 at 5:04:42 pm

Given that video I posted yesterday in which a BrightSource employee shreds an ancient* Mojave yucca in direct contravention of the conditions of the permit, and the fact that the BLM now expects to find a hundred more tortoises on the site than were allowed for in the permitting, it’s time for Ken Salazar to stop construction.

I’ve started a change.org petition to urge him to do just that.

Please sign it and tell all your friends to do the same.

* Jim Andre’s ballpark estimate of the plant’s age being 400-800 years

My browser (IE) doesn’t support change.org! Does anyone else have this problem?

Haven’t heard of that, Ms. Swan. What version of IE do you have?

Don’t know if you saw this yet…
What ever happened to “Don’t be evil”?

There’s a spot on the Google Ivanpah blog page to link to their post - maybe you can figure out a way to get a link to here on the list of links - I couldn’t…

On second thought, you probably don’t want that traffic - but it would provide some visibility for an alternate perspective.  Any way to game their system?

I believe it’s IE8 - whatever the latest one is. I’ve never had this problem. I get a message that tells me to download google or firefox or something else. Wierd. Maybe I’ll contact change.org. I’ll let you know what I come up with. I think a lot of people would just stop when they got that message - and we sure don’t want anyone to stop. Thank you so much for your good work.

Oh look - apparently it’s sea turtles versus desert turtles:

I saw that, Sylvan. Brune doesn’t explain how buying a solar panel is going to keep you from buying gasoline for your car — which is where most of the Gulf oil is going.

OK, you tell me. I can’t sign a petition objecting to Ivanpah Construction because I get blocked by a message that I have to use GOOGLE. It says that it does not support IE 6. I don’t have IE 6. I am completely blocked from change.org by this popup telling me I have to download a google browser. Is that $168 million deal just a coincidence?
